Acts of Christmas Kindness at MCC Elementary
By: Nikki Cheskie – MCC Elementary Mental Health Coordinator
As we celebrate this festive time of year, we are reminded of our great blessings and are inspired to give back to others. Our MCC Elementary students have been doing just that with acts of Christmas Kindness in our community.
Our 5th and 6th grade Rebel Choir has been spreading cheer with Christmas caroling at Sunrise Terrace and the Murray County Government Center. Thank you to our music teacher, Christie Gergen, for leading our choir and arranging these caroling events
The MCC K-Kids club held a Dollar Day on November 22. All elementary students were invited to wear pajamas on that day and bring a donation of $1 (or more) for the Murray County Christmas Project. We were excited to present a donation of $500.89 to The Murray County Christmas Project! The K-Kids also made beautiful Christmas placemats to bring some cheer to the meals at Slayton Senior Dining.
Our MCC Elementary Student Council has partnered with the Murray County Food Shelf to provide them with Birthday Bags. Students were invited to bring donations of cake mix, frosting, plates, plastic forks, candles and party favors. The Student Council surpassed their goal of creating 25 Birthday Bags for the Food Shelf. We hope that these will be a blessing to those less fortunate in our community.
The MCC Kindergarten and 1st grade classes have been busy making some adorable artwork to share with others. Their Christmas coloring pages were shared with Lindenwood, Sunrise Terrace, Hospice of Murray County and Slayton Senior Dining for their home deliveries.
All of us from Murray County Central Schools send you our greetings for a happy and healthy holiday season!
