q 1

As we now are ending October and winding down the first quarter of the year (November 8th), we are looking forward to upcoming events like our annual Veterans Day program, the annual MCC American Education Celebration, and the annual Musical put on by our drama department. We also are looking forward to the winter sports season and the upcoming holidays. Before all of this though, we have to cheer on our MMC/Fulda cross country state qualifiers Mara Clarke, Evan Baumgardner and Matthew Stapek and wish them good luck at state on November 2nd. We also want to wish the football team good luck in the Section 3A championship game being held at SMSU on November 1st. They take on Springfield at 10:00 a.m. Congratulations go out to our volleyball team and cheer team on a great season this fall. The first day of the 2nd quarter starts on November 11th.

We will be hosting our 7-12 Parent/Teacher conferences on November 4th from 3:30-7:00 p.m. This is a great way to connect with your child’s teachers. There will also be a Flu Shot Clinic available that night and encourage everyone to get their flu shot. Ages 3 and up are welcome to attend and we want to thank Guidepoint Pharmacy for partnering with us on this clinic. We will also be holding our Winter Sports Eligibility meeting that night starting at 7:15 p.m. in the competition gymnasium.

We will be honoring our Veterans during a program on November 11th at 2:00 p.m. in the high school competition gym. All veterans and their families are invited to attend and will be served cookies, coffee, and juice after the program. This year’s fall school musical performance will be the production of “Oklahoma”. These performances will be held on November 8th and 9th at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday afternoon, November 10th at 2:00 p.m. All performances will be held in the MCC Auditorium. The annual MCC American Education Celebration will be held on Thursday, November 14th in the new gymnasium. This night will honor selected students, staff, retired staff, community members, and the induction of this year’s Wall of Fame selection, Howard “Jake” Konkol. Everyone in the community is invited to attend this great event.

Election day is Tuesday, November 5th. Please exercise your right to vote and get to the polls. MCC’s local school board has three open positions with three candidates vying for these three spots. Lauren Biegler, Robin Gilbertson, and Katie Hoffmann are the candidates for this year’s election.

Please take a moment and express your gratitude for our educators and staff. While teaching and all the other work needed to keep a school District up and running is not easy even in the best of times, there are more and more demands and mandates placed upon our staff.  They appreciate and need your encouragement to keep serving our students to the best of their abilities. We have a great staff here at MCC and the difference they make in the lives of the children they serve is unmeasurable.

If you haven’t already done so, take a moment to follow us on social media and download our MCC Schools app. This is an easy way to stay up to date on all that is happening around MCC. We continue to improve this site to make it more user friendly and up to date.

We invite you into our schools for all of the events that we have going on. It is still not too late to get your activity passes and if you are a district resident 65+, you are eligible for a FREE lifetime activity pass. Stop by the district office to pick yours up today.

On to Quarter 2!
