Counseling Center Intern

As we start a new year, we welcome a new face to the MCC Counseling Center!  Destiny Carlson is a graduate student at SDSU.  In May she will graduate with a Master’s Degrees in School Counseling and Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling.      She is originally from Tracy, and her parents are John and Lori Carlson.

During her time as an intern, Destiny will be working at MCC high school on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays to complete her hours with middle school and high school students.  On Tuesdays and Thursdays, she will be at the Prairie Elementary Schools in the Worthington school district.  She is required to complete a total of 600 internship hours.

Following the American School Counselors Association Model of School Counseling, Destiny will have experiences in Career, Academic, and Personal Counseling.  Students can set up appointments to meet with her or stop in the Counseling Center on the days she is at MCC to meet with her.

Upon receiving her degrees from SDSU and passing her board exams, she plans to either find a school counseling job in this area or work with adults with disabilities to help them find career opportunities.  Destiny lives north of Lake Shetek with her partner Derick Ourada.  Her hobbies include hanging out with friends, listening to music, watching Netflix, doing home improvement projects, and spending time with family.

            Welcome Destiny Carlson to MCC!
